… I guess my career helps in pushing me to be more determined by then. Being an actor with just the knowledge out of an acting school without the “Idol Class” Qualification which is much look upon… its pretty competitive. So I push harder but smarter now. Before I start I set a goal and told myself no matter what others say I’ll stick to the plan unless I decide to make the change on my own. I know a lot of people around me will have a lot of say in many things so best I set my mind firm and not stray or submit to temptations.
Then I went into modeling. Entering contest of like:
- Hottest Hunks in Malaysia
- GS Vogue Super Hunks
and some lingerie shows and magazine shoots, bridal shoots because back then when I started, not a lot of models are muscular. Most of them are tall and thin. lol. The irony. I am short and sexy 😛 kidding. But yeah, I was creating awareness and attention wherever I went. Be it on the film & Drama sets or just modeling events. And up till the point of events non related to modeling or acting. The sudden extra attention felt good. But i always tell myself that I will not stray from my path. Some offered me advice to abuse steroids and even told me that oral steroids are not consider steroids. Some models even told me to inject L-Carnitine directly into the abdominal areas but I never fell for those kinda temptations. It was due to my goal as its not just to look sexy, but i focus more on FITNESS & HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. To me, having to directly inject any substance into my body to enhance anything is bad. READ UP on it and you would know that our body is not meant to receive so much dose is such a gushed manner. Asked me what do I think of them who took it? “Its their own choice and we have different goals” What they are willing to sacrifice now for whatever reasons it is isn’t what I am willing to sacrifice long term. i look ahead to 10 years down the line, 20 years, if so blessed 30 years and 40 years. The short 5 minute fame is not what i think in my own opinion as worthy my sacrifice.
I didn’t join a lot of modeling contest because i was more focus on acting. Most would tell me its almost near impossible to be both acting and maintaining. Well, I’ve to juggle Studies, Acting, Modeling and Events while maintaining my physiques. All it takes is a little time management. I mean, most people I know usually tell me that they don’t have time to go to the gym. And when I asked them what are they doing for the night, its always
- I’m clubbing tonight
- I’m Pubbing tonight
- I’m going starbucks, coffeebean, this dinner that tea time… endless
but never had time to gym. So I guess at the end of the day, its what you see as important or prioritized that matters if you have the time to stay healthy. On those ground traveling days, my luggage usually has a minimum weight of 20kg. My pair of dumbbells. And when I’ve to fly, i’ve my trusted Resistant band. Sometimes when I can’t bring much.. I’ll grab whatever I can get. Like fire extinguisher (I’ve a video of that) stairs, tables, chairs.. you name it I’ll think of it. I’ll mostly wake up earlier than everyone else to pump in the gym before going to work in events or shoots or sleep later than anyone else. When I first started I did a lot of cardio up till I read that the real fat burning exercise is weight training and how intensely you do it. Anyways, back then I would jog at 2 am – 3 am in the morning after work around my condo freaking the securities out sometimes. lol. Usually an hours worth before I head back to my unit and shower before I rest to wake up at 6 am to go to shoots. It’s all about dedication and how much you are willing to sacrifice. Sometimes I would drag myself out of the bed like a zombie early in the morning just to exercise. Even with eyes wide shut.
It’s always about how much it meant to you and how much are you willing to sacrifice to obtain it.
